The Plunderers (1948 Film)
''The Plunderers'' is a 1948 American Western film directed by Joseph Kane and written by Gerald Geraghty and Gerald Drayson Adams. The film stars Rod Cameron, Ilona Massey, Lorna Gray, Forrest Tucker, George Cleveland and Grant Withers. The film was released on October 31, 1948, by Republic Pictures. Plot Whit Lacey and his gang chase a wagon of ore from Eben Martin's mine. When Martin tells elderly local sheriff Sam Borden he says he has more to worry about. Soon after Borden discovers John Drum in a general store and tries to arrest him. Drum shoots the sheriff in front of the store owner and saloon dancers Lin Conner and Julie Ann McCabe, and then escapes on a horse from the stables which turns out to be McCabe's. He is chased by a posse but escapes in the hills. When he is attacked by a Sioux war party he drives them off with help from Lacey and his companion Indian Eddie. ''The Plunderers'' is a 1960 American Western film directed by Joseph Pevney and starring Jeff Chandler, John Saxon and Dolores Hart. It was nominated for a Golden Globe in 1960. Plot Unruly cowboys Rondo, Jeb, Mule and Davy ride into the small town of Trail City. They are unable to pay for their drinks, so Sheriff McCauley jails them for a night, on the understanding that they will leave town in the morning. The next day, however, they refuse to pay Ellie Walters at the general store for the clothes they take, and then convince Kate Miller that they will pay for the rooms they take at her hotel. Realizing that they are trouble-makers, Kate asks the rancher Sam Christy, an old love of hers, for help. He is an American Civil War hero, but has lost the use of one arm and is tired of fighting. The Plunderers (band)
The Plunderers were an Australian band which formed in May 1984 in Canberra. The group's founding mainstays were Nic Dalton on bass guitar and vocals and Stevie Plunder (born Anthony Hayes) on guitar and vocals. The group issued three mini-albums, ''Trust Us'' (June 1988), ''Sarah's not Falling in Love'' (April 1990), and ''Home Movie'' (1992); a live album, ''13.7.91 Live! Live! Live!'' (1991); and three albums, ''No Era Is Safe'' (1986), ''Half A Cow'' (1986), and ''Banana Smoothie Honey'' (1992). Australian musicologist, Ian McFarlane, described their sound as "a punky brand of power pop that mixed frantic guitar riffs, sharp harmonies and diamond-hard pop melodies" before starting to "explore a more tripped-out kind of psychedelic revivalism". In 1989 Dalton and Plunder and their drummer, Geoff Milne, formed a side project, Hippy Dribble, playing their more psychedelic songs.
